Diagnostic Imaging
At MRMC, we are committed to providing the highest standards of quality and customer service. MRMC offers advanced technology that allows you and your family to remain within the greater Muskogee region for your diagnostic imaging needs. Our imaging team is dedicated to exceed the expectations of our customers and is determined to make your experience at MRMC pleasant.

Imaging services offered at MRMC
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI/MR)
This non-invasive procedure utilizes high-speed computers and magnetic fields—rather than radiation—to provide safe, high resolution images of the human anatomy. MR imaging enhances the differences between soft tissues within the body to make a more accurate diagnosis, especially when evaluating musculoskeletal and neurological (brain) systems. The MRI technology that is offered at our facility provides images at the speed of life, making MRI exams more comfortable and tolerable due to a noticeable decrease in scan times.
Computed Tomography (CT)
This specialized exam is a non-invasive diagnostic test using a combination of computers and X-ray beams to create cross-sectional images of your body. CT images may be manipulated into several varying angles including 3D reformats that aid in a highly accurate diagnosis. This technology allows the radiologist to pinpoint the origin and extent of many diseases or other abnormalities within the body, particularly with internal organs, blood vessels and bones. The 64 slice CT scanner at MRMC is capable of performing 3D imaging of your heart which allows your cardiologist to assess the overall health of your heart and the possible methods of keeping your heart healthy.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging or ultrasonography obtains images from inside the body through the use of high-frequency sound waves. The reflected sound patterns are recorded and displayed as real-time, visual images without the use of ionizing radiation (X-ray). Ultrasonography is most often utilized to visualize internal organs along with the movements of the fetus during pregnancy and the blood flow through vessels.
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine technology utilizes small amounts of radioactive (radiopharmaceutical) materials that aid in the diagnosis or treatment of certain cancers, heart diseases and other abnormalities that may be present within the body. Nuclear Medicine technology is most commonly used in evaluated the physiology (function) of particular parts of the human body such as the heart, gallbladder and kidneys.
General Radiography
General radiography includes standard x-ray imaging, fluoroscopy (upper and lower gastrointestinal studies, myelography, arthrography, cystography) and intravenous studies.
Electrodiagnostic Department
The Electrodiagnostic (EDS) department offers a wide variety of technical testing to the Muskogee community. The services offered by the EDS department assist local cardiologists and neurologists in the evaluation of specific diseases and/or functional abnormalities within the human body.
Electromyography (EMG)
Electromyography or EMG is a diagnostic test that is utilized in the assessment of the functional relationship between the muscles and nerves. The EMG is used primarily to detect the electrical signals that are transmitted from the nerves to the muscle.
Electroencephalography (EEG)
Electroencephalography or EEG is used in the evaluation of the disorders that may affect the brain. EEG’s are most commonly utilized to assess for seizures. An EEG may also be used to assess brain function that may be associated with memory loss and confusion.
Electrocardiogram (EKG)
An electrocardiogram (EKG) is a basic test used to evaluate problems associated with the heart. The EKG records the rhythms of the heart on a strip which is interpreted by a cardiologist.
Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram is an ultrasound test that uses sound waves to produce images of the heart. An echocardiogram allows the cardiologist to assess the function and structure of the heart to identify abnormalities of the chambers and valves of the heart.
Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)
A transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) is an ultrasound procedure (echocardiogram) that is used to assess the function and structures of the heart through the esophagus. This method allows for closer evaluation of the heart without the interference of the ribs and lungs.
Onsite Radiologist
A board certified radiologist (X-ray physician) is always onsite and available for consultation with you and your physician when necessary. The onsite radiologist, along with our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), allows the radiologist to provide a quicker turnaround on imaging reports to assist your physician in planning your treatment options.
