Medical emergencies are unpredictable. There’s never a convenient time to have an emergency, but if it does happen to you or a member of your family, it’s nice to know that you can get good, quality care from people you know and trust. The Muskogee Regional Medical Center Emergency Department has the facilities, equipment and specialized staff to care for you or your loved one. We are always open and staffed around-the-clock with doctors, nurses and support staff who are specialized in emergency medical care.
Level 3 Trauma and Primary Stroke Center
The MRMC Emergency Department has an enhanced Level 3 trauma center and is certified by the State of Oklahoma as a Primary Stroke Center. The ED has the capability to handle all emergency situations. Less than 2% of our patients have to be transferred to another facility for care. A trip to the Emergency Department can be stressful and frightening experience. The care and treatment of our patients and their family members is our highest concern and we work hard to deliver quality care in a compassionate manner.
Your Arrival
We strive to make every emergency visit a thorough and healing experience. Our goal is to see and treat each patient as quickly as possible. Due to the nature of the Emergency Department, patients are seen in order of the seriousness of their injury or illness-not on a first-come, first-serviced basis. Rendering lifesaving care to emergent (the critically ill or injured) patients is always given priority. When you arrive, you will be triaged by an RN, who will determine the order in which you will be taken to the treatment area. Your medical condition will be classified as emergent, very urgent, urgent, semi-urgent, or non-emergency depending on the acuity of your illness or injury. If you are waiting to be seen by the Doctor, please do not eat or drink anything before checking with a Nurse. Please check with a Nurse before using the restroom in case a specimen is needed.
Be sure to let someone know if your condition worsens. This may be a sign that your condition needs more immediate attention. If you have any questions or concerns about you or your family members care, please ask to speak to the Triage Nurse or Team Leader.
Discharge Instructions
Upon being released you will be given a sheet called “discharge instructions.” As part of the discharge process, you may be referred to your family physician or a specialist for follow-up. If you do not have a physician, we will give you the names and numbers of local physicians. To ensure the best possible recovery, instructions should be followed carefully.
