Providence Imaging Center
Our full-service diagnostic imaging center includes MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography with CAD, bone density and diagnostic X-ray. This, combined with same day service, easy access to our facility, and a convenient location ensures a positive patient experience.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI/MR)
This non-invasive procedure utilizes high-speed computers and magnetic fields—rather than radiation—to provide safe, high resolution images of the human anatomy. MR imaging enhances the differences between soft tissues within the body to make a more accurate diagnosis, especially when evaluating musculoskeletal and neurological (brain) systems. The Providence Imaging at MRMC is proud to offer faster and more detailed MRI imaging with our GE Signa Infinity with EXCITE. The MRI technology that is offered at our facility provides images at the speed of life, making MRI exams more comfortable and tolerable due to a noticeable decrease in scan times.
Computed Tomography (CT)
This specialized exam is a non-invasive diagnostic test using a combination of computers and X-ray beams to create cross-sectional images of your body. CT images may be manipulated into several varying angles including 3D reformats that aid in a highly accurate diagnosis. This technology allows the radiologist to pinpoint the origin and extent of many diseases or other abnormalities within the body, particularly with internal organs, blood vessels and bones.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging or ultrasonography obtains images from inside the body through the use of high-frequency sound waves. The reflected sound patterns are recorded and displayed as real-time, visual images without the use of ionizing radiation (X-ray). Ultrasonography is most often utilized to visualize internal organs along with the movements of the fetus during pregnancy and the blood flow through vessels.
Mammography (ACR Accredited)
This special type of imaging uses a very low X-ray dose for the examination of breasts. It’s a very important screening tool used to detect early breast cancer in women experiencing no present symptoms, to identify and diagnose breast disease in those experiencing warning signs such as lumps, pain or nipple discharge.
Mammography plays a key part in early detection of various breast cancers because it can reveal changes in the breast up to two years before a patient or a physician can detect (feel) a lump. Current government health guidelines recommend annual mammograms for women beginning at the age of 40. Research proves annual mammograms lead to early detection when they are most curable and breast conservation therapies are readily available. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) adds that women who have had breast cancer—and those who are at an increased risk due to a genetic history of the disease—should seek expert medical advice regarding the advent of screening prior to the age of 40, and, the frequency of the procedure.
Providence Imaging is also a proud sponsor of Muskogee’s “Women Who Care,” a breast cancer advocacy and support group.
Bone Density
To detect osteoporosis accurately, the specialists at Providence Imaging utilize an enhanced form of X-ray technology called dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA/DEXA), which is the established standard for measuring bone mineral density. A DEXA scan is a quick, painless, non-invasive procedure used for determining bone mineral loss. The lower spine and hip regions are the most commonly scanned regions of the body to provide a thorough and accurate assessment for osteoporosis.
On-site Radiologist
A board certified radiologist (X-ray physician) is always on-site and available for consultation with you and your physician when necessary. The on-site radiologist, along with our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), allows the radiologist to provide a quicker turnaround on imaging reports to assist your physician in planning your treatment options.
